Highland Dance Demonstrations

Highland Dance Demonstrations

Highland Dance Demonstrations at 10 AM and 1 PM on the Main Entertainment Stage - under the large tent!

Highland Dance is a traditional solo dance form of Scotland steeped in a rich history of tradition and legend. Origins of the dances, in some cases, date back as far as the 15th and 16th century.
Highland Dancing combines strength, endurance and accuracy of an athlete with the grace, poise and artistry of a dancer. At one point, Highland dance was dominated by male dancers, often used as a form a military exercise. Today, Highland dancing is found across the globe and enjoyed by participants ranging across all genders and ages and nationalities.

Cat of the Cat Hanks Highland Dancers in partnership with Kay of Glenisla Highland Dance are pleased to present A Highland Fling! at the Glasgowlands Scottish Festival on Saturday July 16, 2022. Both Cat and Kay are active competitors and performers in Highland Dance and strongly believe whether for competition, performance or ‘Just for Fun’, Scottish Highland Dance should be accessible for Anyone with the willingness to learn and the desire to keep at it.

Join us for a fun filled afternoon exploring the World of Highland Dance! Come to watch! Stay to Play! Find out for yourself what the fun is all about!

Performances will be featuring dancers from Cat Hanks Highland Dancers, Glenisla Highland Dance, and Peitzch-Gibbs Highland Dance School.

All are Welcome, no matter what age! Any age (Adults we mean you too!), Any gender, Any nationality! If the Swirl of the Kilt and the Skirl of the Bagpipes calls to you, Highland Dance is for you!
