Don't miss this!! Relax, sit in the shade and enjoy the enchanting harp music of Rosemary Caine and Friends. Sing along with some of your favorite Scottish & Irish songs.
The Pioneer Valley Harpers Guild, under the leadership of Rosemary Caine, has been a perennial favorite at Glasgow Lands for many, many years.
Among the harpers in the guild — formed in 1994 — are pedal-harp players and players of historical harps and early music, but the majority play lever-harp and are interested in folk and traditional music.
Members come from Cape Cod to upstate New York and from the Connecticut coast to mid New Hampshire and Vermont. To quote Rosemary, “You can get great joy and a great return very, very quickly” playing the harp, “There’s something about the physicality of plucking on the strings. The music goes outward into the room and back to yourself.” “Music bypasses intellectual channels and goes right to the heart,” she said. “Music has an emotive quality and double the emotive quality when it is played on the harp.” Guild president is Pat Larkin, secretary is Peter Macaulay.
